Ilene Miller

Interim athletic trainer Ilene Miller is committed to GateWay student-athlete strength and fitness. The Phoenix native grew up playing soccer and went on to compete on the Sunnyslope High School and Phoenix College squads. With her background and experience, the transition into a career in athletic training made perfect sense.

“I enjoy surrounding myself with athletics and it is my goal to help our students stay healthy and able to engage in high level competition.”

Miller’s philosophy centers on taking care of yourself early on.

“I feel it is always easier to take care of an injury if you take a proactive stance. I encourage athletes to take action when they first feel that something isn’t right, rather than wait until the injury is so far advanced that they end up missing an entire season.”

Miller previously worked at Camelback Sports Medicine and Rehab and completed internships with the Phoenix Mercury and LA Galaxy. Currently, she is also the athletic trainer for the Inferno Semi-Pro Indoor Soccer Team.

Miller originally graduated from Arizona State with a degree in Criminal Justice before changing directions and entering her current field. She received her degree in Athletic Training from Grand Canyon University, where she was the student trainer in charge of the women’s basketball team.

Miller currently resides in Phoenix where she enjoys playing soccer and spending time with her family.
