Wiley Davis has served as head golf coach since its inception in 2001.

His coaching philosophy attempts to mirror a philosophy of life.  He believes that what one gets out of each is in direct proportion to what one puts into it.

“My goal while coaching the men’s golf team is to consistently put a competitive team on the field in hopes that they may achieve the ultimately team goal of becoming champions.”

He has been employed by the Maricopa Community College District for over 20 years.  Davis currently serves as the Director of the TRiO Program.  Prior to TRiO, he served as Director of Student Life at GateWay, and at South Mountain Community College.  He also served as head basketball coach for four years at SMCC and for six years at Everett Community College in Everett, WA.

He was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan.  Davis was captain of his high school basketball team where they were state champions during his senior year, earning him a basketball scholarship to attend college.  As team captain again in college, Regis University finished first in league play.  After graduation from college, he received an opportunity to tryout with the Seattle Super Sonics basketball team.

Davis continues to serve as a volunteer classroom facilitator for Career Concepts for Youth; a non-profit, 6th grade “Stay in School and Achieve” program.

Davis has one son.  He enjoys the challenge of his pet dog, reading books, physical fitness exercises, golf and going to movies.  Davis has an entrepreneurial spirit, and looks forward to expanding his business interests in the future.
